The idea might seem far-fetched or even crazy but the technology for high-tech contact lenses is coming. Similar to Google Glass, these lenses plan to float virtual screens filled with information in front of the wearer’s eyes. Innovega is the company heading this technology called the iOptik system. The special contacts will work as a filter to let the human eye focus on things near and far. With the use of tiny projectors of transmitted data, wearers will be able to view projected information such as directions, messages or videos. Google Glass and the need for FDA approval are current obstacles for the hopeful company still in their start-up stage. Read more on the upcoming prototype here.
